Surah An-Nahl Verse 102

قُلْ نَزَّلَهُ رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ مِنْ رَبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَهُدًى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ



Say, [O Muhammad], "The Pure Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth to make firm those who believe and as guidance and good tidings to the Muslims."

(And when We put a revelation in place of (another) revelation…) [16:101-102]. This verse was revealedwhen the idolaters said: “Muhammad is mocking his Companions; one day he commands them to dosomething and the next day he forbids them from doing it, or brings instead something which is easier. He isnothing but a calumniator who says things of his own invention”, and so Allah, exalted is He, revealed thisverse and the verse after it.

وَإِذَا بَدَّلْنَآ ءَايَةً مَّكَانَ ءَايَةٍ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُنَزِّلُ قَالُواْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُفْتَرٍ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ - قُلْ نَزَّلَهُ رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ مِن رَّبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَهُدًى وَبُشْرَى لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ

(101. And when We change a verse in place of another - and Allah knows best what He reveals - they (the disbelievers) say: "You (O Muhammad) are but a forger.'' Rather, most of them know not.)

(102. Say (O Muhammad); "Ruh-ul-Qudus has brought it (the Qur'an) down from your Lord with truth.'' for the conviction of those who believe, and as a guide and good news for the Muslims.)

The Idolators' Accusation that the Prophet was a Liar since some Ayat were abrogated, and the Refutation of their Claim

Allah tells us of the weak minds of the idolators, and their lack of faith and conviction. He explains that it is impossible for them to have faith when He has decreed that they are doomed. When they saw that some rulings had been changed by being abrogated, they said to the Messenger of Allah :

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُفْتَرٍ

(You are but a forger) meaning one who tells lies. But Allah is the Lord Who does whatever He wills, and rules as He wants.

بَدَّلْنَآ ءَايَةً مَّكَانَ ءَايَةٍ

(And when We change a verse (of the Qur'an) in place of another) Mujahid said: this means, "We remove one and put another in its place.'' Qatadah said: this is like the Ayah:

مَا نَنسَخْ مِنْ ءَايَةٍ أَوْ نُنسِهَا

(Whatever verse We change abrogate or omit the abrogated...)'' (2:106). Allah said, in response to them:

قُلْ نَزَّلَهُ رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ

(Say: "Ruh-ul-Qudus has brought it...'') meaning, Jibril,

مِّن رَّبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ

(from your Lord with truth, ) meaning, with truthfulness and justice

لِيُثَبِّتَ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ

(for the conviction of those who believe,) so that they will believe what was revealed earlier and what was revealed later, and humble themselves towards Allah.

وَهُدًى وَبُشْرَى لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ

(and as a guide and good news for the Muslims.) meaning He has made it a guide and good news to the Muslims who believe in Allah and His Messengers.

Jibril disebut rohulkudus, karena Dia bersih dari aib, khianat, dan penyakit.

Yakni turunnya benar-benar dari sisi Allah, di dalamnya mengandung kebenaran, baik pada beritanya, perintah maupun larangannya. Jika telah diketahui, bahwa Al Qur’an adalah kebenaran, maka berarti sesuatu yang bertentangan atau berlawanan dengannya adalah batil.

Oleh karena kebenaran senantiasa sampai ke dalam hati mereka sedikit demi sedikit, maka iman mereka akan semakin kokoh bagai gunung kokoh yang menancap. Di samping itu, dengan turunnya ayat sedikit-demi sedikit, maka lebih siap diterima oleh jiwa daripada turun secara sekaligus yang seakan-akan mereka menerima banyak beban. Oleh karena itulah, dengan Al Qur’an keadaan para sahabat berubah; akhlak, tabi’at, kebiasaan dan amal mereka berubah sampai mengalahkan orang-orang terdahulu dan yang akan datang kemudian. Maka dari itu, sepatutnya generasi yang datang setelah para sahabat terdidik di atas ilmu-ilmu yang ada dalam Al Qur;an, berakhlak dengan akhlaknya, menggunakannya sebagai penerang dalam gelapnya kesesatan dan kebodohan, ehingga dengannya urusan agama dan dunia mereka menjadi baik.

Yang menunjukkan kepada mereka hakikat segala sesuatu, menerangkan mana yang benar dan mana yang batil, mana petunjuk dan mana kesesatan.

Yang memberikan kabar gembira kepada mereka, bahwa mereka akan memperoleh kebaikan, yaitu surga dan mereka akan kekal di sana selama-lamanya.
