وَنَزَعْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا فَقُلْنَا هَاتُوا بُرْهَانَكُمْ فَعَلِمُوا أَنَّ الْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ
And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allah, and lost from them is that which they used to invent.

وَيَوْمَ يُنَـدِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآئِىَ الَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيداً فَقُلْنَا هَاتُواْ بُرْهَـنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُواْ أَنَّ الْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ
(74. And the Day when He will call to them, and will say: "Where are My (so-called) partners, whom you used to assert'')
(75. And We shall take out from every nation a witness, and We shall say: "Bring your proof.'' Then they shall know that the truth is with Allah, and the lies which they invented will disappear from them.)
This is another call by way of rebuke for those who worshipped other gods besides Allah. The Lord, may He be exalted, will call to them before all the witnesses, and will say:
أَيْنَ شُرَكَآئِىَ الَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ
(Where are My (so-called) partners, whom you used to assert) meaning, in this world.
وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيداً
(And We shall take out from every nation a witness,) Mujahid said, "This means a Messenger.''
فَقُلْنَا هَاتُواْ بُرْهَـنَكُمْ
(and We shall say: "Bring your proof.'') meaning, `of the truth of your claim that Allah had any partners.'
فَعَلِمُواْ أَنَّ الْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ
(Then they shall know that the truth is with Allah,) meaning, that there is no god besides Him. Then they will not speak and they will not be able to find any answer.
وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ
(and the lies which they invented will disappear from them.) they will vanish and will be of no benefit to them.

Yang dimaksud saksi di sini ialah rasul yang telah diutus kepada mereka waktu di dunia. Ada pula yang menafsirkan, bahwa Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala mendatangkan salah seorang dari mereka (yang mendustakan) seorang yang menjadi tokohnya yang siap membela kawan-kawannya, yang kemudian ditanya oleh Allah, "Kemukakanlah bukti kebenaranmu,â Yakni yang membenarkan perbuatan syirkmu. Apakah Kami memerintahkan demikian atau para rasul kami memerintahkan demikian? Apakah hal tersebut disebutkan dalam salah satu di antara kitab-kitab yang Kami turunkan?
Terhadap perbuatan syirkmu.
Maksudnya, pada waktu itu mereka yakin, bahwa apa yang telah diterangkan Allah dengan perantaraan Rasul-Nya itulah yang benar dan bahwa hanya Allah yang berhak disembah; tidak selain-Nya.
Ketika di dunia, yaitu bahwa Allah memiliki sekutu, Mahasuci Allah dari apa yang mereka ada-adakan itu.
