وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِنْ بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْ سُهُولِهَا قُصُورًا وَتَنْحِتُونَ الْجِبَالَ بُيُوتًا ۖ فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
74. And remember when He made you successors after the 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."
وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا آمِنِينَ
82. And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِينَ
146. Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],
فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
147. Within gardens and springs
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ
148. And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ
149. And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.
وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
43. And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time."
وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ
9. And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
